The "MANDALA PROJECT"... started with an attempt to use the available technology as a tool with which to compose, produce & share mandala images that are conducive to the sense of totality and cohesiveness inherent in all things.... this project is continuing to open many doors personally and globally on to this day Dec. 02 2007 .

Artists Statement for this project

Archetypal symbol for wholeness...Mandalas

Project: Series of visual images portraying the inherent wholeness, unity and interdependence of all things.

Mandalas:
“Concentric circles with a central point”
Circle with center is called mandala in Sanskrit – it denotes the cyclical nature of life- a prevalent pattern that transcends all boundaries and is repeated end over end throughout our lives. It symbolizes wholeness - the circle of eternity and is an archetype reappearing in every aspect of life from the shape of cells and atoms to that of the earth, galaxy and so on - the basic pattern of mandala is found in nature, physics and astronomy.

The Art form:
Mandala Art is both a spiritual art form that is found in many indigenous cultures and traditions around the world and a tool used for personal growth and spiritual transformation.

My work:
For each of my digitally composed mandalas I use various graphics software to build layers of transparency which are superimposed to construct a textured and rich seed from which to generate the mandala patterns. The software digitally simulates and graphically represents the process of synthesis, self similarity and scale invariance of the natural world.

Various color/ tone combinations within the mandala patterns provide for alternative focal point of reference which is conducive to centering/ focusing – balancing energy for the sometimes chaotic world.

For me the process of composition and immersion in colors and mandala patterns is sufficient reward - journey is the destination – observing the effect these images evoke on viewers is simply gratifying.
